I’m Hosting Thanksgiving

Preparing for the Big Day

Thanksgiving is just around the corner, and I’m feeling both excited and nervous about hosting it this year. I want to make sure everything is perfect for my guests, but I also don’t want to stress myself out too much.

The first thing I did was make a list of all the dishes I want to serve. I decided to stick with traditional Thanksgiving foods like turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, and pumpkin pie. I also asked my guests if there were any dietary restrictions or preferences I should be aware of.

Next, I started planning my decorations. I’m not very crafty, so I decided to keep it simple with some fall-colored tablecloths, candles, and a few small centerpieces. I also bought some cute Thanksgiving-themed napkins and plates.

Cooking the Turkey

The turkey is the main event of Thanksgiving, so I want to make sure it’s cooked to perfection. I’ve done some research and decided to brine the turkey overnight to keep it moist and flavorful. On the day of, I’ll season it with some herbs and butter and roast it in the oven until it’s golden brown and cooked through.

I’m also planning to make a gravy from the turkey drippings, which I’ve never done before. I found a recipe online and practiced making it a few times to make sure I get it right on the big day.

As for the sides, I’m planning to make some classic dishes like green bean casserole and sweet potato casserole. I’m also going to try making some homemade cranberry sauce for the first time.

Entertaining the Guests

Aside from the food, I want to make sure my guests are entertained and comfortable throughout the day. I’m planning to have some board games and cards available for those who want to play. I also created a playlist of Thanksgiving-themed songs to play in the background.

I’m also making sure there’s enough seating for everyone. I borrowed some extra chairs from my neighbors and set up a few folding tables in the living room to accommodate everyone.

Lastly, I’m going to make sure to take some time to enjoy the day myself. I’m not going to stress too much if something doesn’t go according to plan. After all, Thanksgiving is about spending time with loved ones and being grateful for what we have.

Conclusion

Overall, I’m feeling pretty good about hosting Thanksgiving this year. I’ve done my research, planned my menu and decorations, and made sure my guests will be comfortable and entertained. Now all that’s left to do is enjoy the day and make some memories with my loved ones.
